Add boulder photos

Photos of the boulders are the most useful thing you can send us. Once a boulder has a photo, lines can be drawn on it for every problem on that face, so each photo can map several problems at once.

1. Choose the area

If you're not sure which area a boulder is in, choose the nearest. Photos with GPS are filed in the right area automatically.

2. Which boulder?

These 15 boulders at Yar Tor don't have a photo yet. Choose the one you're photographing.

How to take a good photo

How to take the photo:

  • Use your phone's "Camera" app
  • Take a horizontal photo. Warning: vertical photos are not accepted
  • Frame the entire face of the boulder if possible
  • Keep a bit of margin at the top, bottom, left, and right of the boulder
  • Use the wide-angle mode (zoom x0.5) if available
  • Save the photo with the highest possible quality and size

Additional details:

  • If the route extends over several faces (example: a traverse), then take a photo of each face
  • Avoid objects in the photo (crash pads, bags) or people
  • Avoid rainy days, as moisture makes the boulder hard to recognize
  • Avoid shadows from tree branches and leaves

Photos are shown on the site without their location or camera details. Please avoid having people in them.
